Hello to anyone reading,

In the next few weeks I will be posting reviews for books I've been reading. I have actually read more books this year than ever before, which I am kind of proud of. It's not easy to do the thing you love while also attending university and working, but somehow I have managed. I hope if anyone does read this that they will enjoy reading my reviews and that I can help them choose the next book they pick up. Anyway, I am glad to be back at the keyboard, for something other than an essay or research paper.

Hope you have an amazing day, I will be back soon..

The One by Kiera Cass

Rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a highly anticipated ending to the story of the Selection. I am disappointed and satisfied with this conclusion, I know those two contradict but I will explain. I didn't really enjoy the whole first part of the book, because of the way things were between Maxon and America. I also kind of felt that it was not written as well as it could have been, I mean the ideas were great, but the execution, not so much. What I did like was the emotional roller coaster at the end, and the ending!! I was hoping to see more of their life together after the rebel attack, but we didn't really get that. I hope she writes some novellas about what happened after the ending. I liked that America changed a bit, but I still didn't like her very much throughout most of the book.

Let's see what actually happened, that I hoped would happen:

  • the king gets killed (check)
  • the queen finds out that her husband is more of an ass than she knows, as in he beats his son (not check)
  • the rebels actually do something that effects the kingdom (double check)
  • America stops being stupid and annoying (not exactly check)
  • Aspen hooks up with someone else (yes! check)
  • America picks MAXON (and Maxon picks America!)

Venice Nights by Ava Claire

Rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a novella in His Submissive series, book 4.5. It follows Jacob and Leila to Venice where they overcome the trials of coming out to the public as a couple.

This is a very, very sexy read, with quite a few steamy scenes. There were sweet and bitter moments, but that only made their relationship more realistic to me and because of that I enjoyed it more. I do not love the main character, but she's okay.  It's a quick read and anyone that reads the series would love it. I enjoyed it a lot too, and I have not read the series, but I might after reading this.

The Selection Reviews, and The One Excitement!!

As most of you must know The One by Kiera Cass, the final book in the selection series is coming out in a few weeks, and I, along with many others am very excited for it.

Covers play a big role in me picking the books I read, that is if the books were not recommended to me by someone else. These covers are so beautiful, absolutely stunning!! I love so many things about these books, but a huge complaint that I have, that most people have are the length of the first two books, the were so darn SHORT, I hope the last one is longer! We deserve a minimum of 500 pages.

Here are my brief reviews, and thoughts on the first two books, just as a recap...

This is the first book in the trilogy. I read it in a day, and really loved it! It was like watching the Bachelor, but a lot better! I also like the narrator, she was relatable and nice. I loved her relationship with Aspen and at first I was rooting for the underdog, and even after meeting Maxon, I was still team Aspen. However that all changed when I got to know Maxon, and I fell in love with him. The ending left me craving for more, and I read the second book right after.

This is the second book in the trilogy. I didn't like this book as much as the first one because it was lacking sweet and romantic moments between America and Maxon, and because of my changed opinion of America. She became so annoying because she was so undecided about the two guys, she was also such a hypocrite. However, I did love the ending, and I am very excited about the next book!!!!

Let's talk about what we hope will happen in the last book:
  • the king gets killed
  • the queen finds out that her husband is more of an ass than she knows, as in he beats his son
  • the rebels actually do something that effects the kingdom
  • America stops being stupid and annoying
  • Aspen hooks up with someone else
  • America picks MAXON

And as always some beautiful alternate covers and stuff.

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 5 of 5 SEXY STARS

I just want to take a second and say, how much better does this cover look than the North American one!! I mean other than the really hot guy on the cover, it really doesn't look that impressive, I mean it could have been a lot better.

For me, this book was a love at first read. A reason for that could be the similarities it had to twilight, as that was the first book I really loved reading, and as for most of you, it was the reason I came to love reading.

Detailed Discussion:

I'm not going to talk in detail about the similarities, but I'm sure after I mentioned this you will notice it, and because this is sooooo much better than Twilight, I feel like aliens are the next vampires... I hope.

I love the love-relationship Katy and Deamon have, because recently I've been reading books where the two lead characters fall in love quickly and I just feel like this is a bit more realistic (well other than the alien thing). They also have some hilarious dialogues that made me laugh out loud, I mean who doesn't love a little banter..

I love Katy... well for the most part.. I like that she's a blogger and that she's into books as much as I am, if not more. I also like that she is so witty and just really fun to read about. I don't like that she is always trying to prove herself, because as we all know it will get her into a whole bunch of trouble that could have been easily avoided, like the situation with Simon..

Oh and then there's Daemon!!!! HOLY HOT HELL!! He is definitely my new book crush! He is just so smexy, sexy and smart! I mean who doesn't love that. I mean yeah, he's a douche, but I feel like that is just part of what makes me like him so much. WHO DOESN'T LOVE INSANELY HOT GUYS THAT ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD?! ;)

I have a confession to make.... I read these books one after the other so I have trouble remembering in which book a certain event happened, the events that aren't obvious anyway.

Sad times..

I just want to include some Daemon Black sexiness.. You're welcome ladies!

This made me laugh..

I just can't even.... I'm melting like chocolate on a hot summer day........ Oh my my..

Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier

Sapphire Blue (The Ruby Red, #2)Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This one is just as great as the first one, if not better. I did not like that it was so short and the fact that Gwen spent most of the book moping around instead of kicking ass, but I suppose I will get over it. It was a really fun read and great continuation of the first book. Despite the ending I still love Gideon and now his arrogant little brother. However I still despise that chauvinistic pig called the count, but he makes a pretty good villain so I am satisfied with him in that aspect. I cannot wait to read the next book!!!!

Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier

Ruby Red (Precious Stone Trilogy, #1)Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved it, though I found Gwyneth, the main character to be a little dim at times. I do felt bad for her cousin Charlotte because she spent her whole childhood preparing to be a time traveller, only to find out that she wasn't the one with the time travelling gene. Though I didn't feel that bad because she is a snooty b word. Despite the dangers time travellers face I think Gwyneth is very lucky.
I mean how awesome is it to find out that you can time travel and then you even get an attractive older guy who can fence, play the violin and speak a ton of foreign languages to accompany you. I have to say though, it was so short and ended quite abruptly. I am really happy that I don't have to wait for the next book to come out because that would drive me absolutely nuts! I really enjoyed reading it, I was so captivated that I couldn't put it down. And I liked how the epilogue confirmed my suspicions about her origins. I am quite curious to find out how things progress with Gideon, the sexy violin playing time traveller, and Lucy and Paul the chronograph thieves. Anyone that likes fantasy, history, London, and a little romance can enjoy this quick read.

The Meeting by Richelle Mead

The Meeting (Vampire Academy, #1.1)The Meeting by Richelle Mead
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this! To put it simply, it was short and sweet. After reading the Vampire Academy more than once this is how I thought Dimitri saw Rose. When I found out about this chapter, it made me squeal like a little girl and reading it made my day. It is a very quick read and perfect for VA fans!

I loved this series, and this last book is no exception. It was the perfect ending. It answered all the questions I had and left me very satisfied. There were some sad parts but I guess a writer's gotta do what a writer's gotta do. I mean it did feel like nothing important or shocking happened, and the ending was kind of predictable, but that doesn't bother me because I wanted her to have a happy ending so badly. I got through this book really quickly, it was effortless and enjoyable.

Allegiant by Veronica Roth

Allegiant (Divergent, #3)Allegiant by Veronica Roth
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I liked this, but I can't say I was exactly satisfied with the ending. However I am happy that I read the series because over all it is great!

When I was reading the chapters I had to grab a box of tissues because I couldn't see through my tears, I actually think I went through the stages of grief, this was me for a few chapers...

When I accepted what happened I cried some more...

Even after all the crying I do not regret reading it for a single second!!!
